A multi-city trip is not a contest to collect capitals. The best route leaves enough time to understand a neighbourhood, recover from travel and change plans when a connection is delayed — Prague is a compact, walkable first base.
Limit the number of bases
Every hotel change costs more than the room: there is packing, station time, orientation and lost energy. Start with two or three cities and add only if the route feels easy.
Keep arrival days light
Make the first afternoon a walk, meal and simple view rather than a major timed attraction. You will enjoy the next day more.
Book the fixed pieces first
Secure the long-distance transport and stays, then leave local food, parks and smaller museums flexible.
