A first family trip does not need a perfect spreadsheet. It needs a few good decisions made in the right order: how much energy you have, what the budget can carry and which experiences matter most.
Start with the shape of the trip
Choose the number of days, the number of hotel changes and the pace before collecting attractions. A shorter trip with one base is often more enjoyable than a longer trip with daily transfers.
Protect the first and last day
Arrival and departure days absorb more energy than a calendar suggests. Keep them light, leave buffer around transport and avoid booking the most important experience immediately after landing.
Make a short list
Choose two or three anchor experiences, then add meals, rest and one flexible block. This gives children a story to follow without making every hour a test.
