- Vesterbro and KødbyenFormer meatpacking districts turned restaurant and design area, with the central station nearby. Choose it for food and better hotel value.
- Nørrebro and around the LakesIndependent shops, diverse food and the Assistens cemetery park. A good base for travellers who prefer neighbourhood life to tour groups.

- Day 1Walk Nyhavn, ride the harbour bus like a local and let Tivoli fill the evening without trying to cover every ride.
- Day 2Rent bicycles for the lakes and the palace circuit, then spend the afternoon at the National Museum or Experimentarium if the weather turns.

Tips before you go
