- Wadi MusaThe town at the visitor entrance: hotels, restaurants and the bus stop. Practical for early starts and late exits from the site.
- Near the Petra gateStaying within walking distance lets you catch the site at dawn before tour groups arrive.

Tips before you go
- Start at opening time — the Siq is cool and nearly empty before 9am.
- Carry more water than you think you need; there is little shade inside.
- Buy the two-day ticket if you arrive after midday on day one.
- Wear proper shoes: loose sand and polished stone make sandals a poor choice.
