Where to base yourself
- Old Bazaar and LakefrontThe market lanes, harbour and promenade around Stara Čaršija. Choose it for restaurants, evening walks and the shortest route to everything.
- Čaršija and KaneoThe steep old quarter climbing toward the fortress and the postcard church on the point. Stay here for views and quieter lanes above the crowd.
- Potpeš and East ShoreLonger beaches and flatter ground east of town. Pick it if beach hours matter more than being near the bazaar.

- Day 1Walk the lakefront in the morning, climb to the fortress for the panorama, then end at Kaneo church for sunset over the water.
- Day 2Take a small boat to the monastery islands and the St Naum springs, where the lake begins and the water is drinkably clear.

- How do I get there?
- Ohrid airport has seasonal flights; otherwise Skopje is about three hours by road. Buses run regularly from Skopje and the coast.
- Can you swim in the lake?
- Yes, from late spring onward. The water is cool in May, warmest from July to September and exceptionally clear near Kaneo and the east shore.
